The TRITAC-Unarmed System is a Contemporary Hand-To-Hand Combat System developed by John Leabo and Michael Simon; and Soul Fighters Academy.

TRITAC-Unarmed is an evolutionary program concentrating on self-preservation in regard to the unexpected, physical confrontations that can take place at any time and any place. TRITAC-Unarmed is designed for “anything goes” street violence where multiple opponents or opponents with weapons are present.

The world can be unpredictable, dangerous place, and TRITAC-Unarmed provides you with the tools necessary to defend yourself and ultimately survive.


Influenced by Muay Thai, Western Boxing, Kick Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Silat, and Filipino Martial Arts (to name a few), the TRITAC-Unarmed System was designed to be as instinctive yet efficient as possible; natural, flowing body movements and mechanics that can be made without much thought or planning, while still capitalizing on strength, speed, and accuracy. The entire TRITAC Martial Arts System was created conscientiously over time, taking into consideration the effects of every movement, no matter how small. Unlike many martial arts systems, the offensive and defensive motions in TRITAC-Unarmed is formatted to “flow” as seamlessly as your natural instincts kick in.  There’s nothing quite like it!

The learning process for the TRITAC Martial Arts System focuses on developing an unstoppable “combative flow”.  You will learn how to easily flow from technique to technique, based upon the response of your opponent. You will develop a combat-instinct that allows you to just execute the appropriate responses without thought or hesitation. The process makes it easy for instructors and students (local or online) to see if they fully understand what is being taught. This also serves as a way to aid in the development of yourself through combat.

We are not just teaching self-defense. We are giving you a way to discover yourself through combat. We can teach you self-defense in a few hours, however, with real combat training, you will develop so much more… Essentially you are transforming yourself into a “Warrior”.


We really have come to dislike the word: Self-Defense.

In all reality, we could teach you some basic self-defense that will get you out of most situations in about a few hours.

So, if you’re not offering you self-defense – then what are you offering?

That’s a GREAT Question!

Training in true combat-based martial arts: Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Sambo, TRITAC-Unarmed, etc – you will quickly find that there is much more to it than just learning “self-defense”.

John Leabo was born and raised in New York City. He has been Training Martial Arts passionately for over 20 years and teaching professionally for over 8 years. His focus has always been on No-Nonsense Martial Arts that are effective for street self-defense. Leabo has an extensive background in Defence Lab: DNA Fight Science, Keysi Fighting Method, Knife Throwing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Combat Shooting, and more.



When you are student, it is vitally important that you learn the right way and build upon your training.  Movement partners become instinctual and easy because they are “repeated” and used in many different applications.

Training is built on our the TRITAC-Flow and a solid curriculum.

The process is simple: “Learn it – Train it – Develop it”. This successful model allows you to learn the system and gives you the confidence and ability to use it.

Learn it: Learn techniques, movements and flow to develop a combat jiu-jitsu skill-set.

Train it: Drills and combinations to make the techniques usable and functional

Develop it: High stress drills and sparring to “prove it”. Sparring will be a combination of rolling: starting standing and using grappling based skill-sets. Advanced Students will also spar with MMA gloves with striking.


The TRITAC-Unarmed system follows the standard Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu structure of: WHITE, BLUE, PURPLE, BROWN, BLACK.

At each belt prior to black there are 4 stripes to be earned. The Belt Curriculum is divided up into 4 Blocks. A completion of a block equals a stripe. Complete a 4-blocks and you will be promoted.

On average it will take 7-12 years to achieve a black belt rank.

Belt Timeline:

  • WHITE to BLUE: 6 mo – 1 year
  • BLUE TO PURPLE: 2-4 years
  • PURPLE TO BROWN: 2-4 years
  • BROWN TO BLACK: 2-4 years
